Advanced Dental Technology Putnam

The Latest Technology for Ideal Results

Row of dental instruments on tray

Dentistry is an art form, and just like a sculptor needs the right tools to create the most beautiful piece of art, our dentists require advanced technology in order to achieve the best results. That’s why you’ll find that our practice is equipped with modern, leading-edge instruments, including our cone beam CT scanner, digital impression system, soft tissue laser, single tooth anesthesia device, and more. You can learn more about the advanced dental technology in Putnam that we use by reading below.

CT/Cone Beam Scanner

Our cone beam CT scanner is a phenomenal piece of technology that allows Dr. Moaz and Dr. Zakhem to view a detailed, 3D image of the underlying facial structure. This includes the density of the jawbone, location of the sinuses and facial nerves, and the jaw joints. Not only is it an excellent resource when it comes to diagnosing certain issues, like TMJ disorder, but it also helps us precisely place dental implants within the jawbone to ensure they last.

Digital Dental Impressions

In the past, dentists would take impressions of the mouth using a piece of goopy putty. Not only could this cause uncomfortable gagging, but it also wasn’t as precise as it could be. Our digital dental impression system consists of a wand-like device that captures a virtual impression to create a detailed topographic map of the mouth. We can then send the impression off to our dental laboratory to craft mouthguards, restorations, and more.

Soft Tissue Laser

Our soft tissue dental laser is a small device that emits a concentrated beam of light from the tip of it to remove severely damaged tissue as well as kill harmful oral bacteria on-contact. It’s especially helpful when treating periodontal (gum) disease and fitting dental crowns. Because of these features, our soft tissue laser is able to reduce treatment and recovery times as well as minimize the risk of post-operative infection.

The Wand

Dentist holding The Wand pen

As opposed to injecting the entire area of a mouth with a local anesthetic before a treatment, our team uses a more precise method with a single tooth anesthesia system, called The Wand. This needle-free device allows our dentists to administer a numbing agent directly to a tooth, meaning you won’t have to deal with any post-operative oral numbing that could put you at a higher risk of accidentally injuring the inside of your mouth. This instrument makes delivering anesthetic more precise, predictable, and accurate.

In-Office Dental Crown Milling

Milling machine crafting a dental crown

At Unique Dental of Putnam, we’re thrilled to bring you same-day dental crowns and restorations with our cutting-edge fastmill.io™ In-Office Mill. This exceptional technology, typically exclusive to laboratories, allows us to craft perfectly fitting crowns within our practice. The milling machine precisely carves your custom crown from a solid block of ceramic, matching your tooth's shape and color, all during a single appointment. This means no lengthy waits or multiple visits. You'll enjoy swift, accurate results, ensuring a seamless and comfortable experience.

Intraoral Camera

Intraoral cameras are excellent resources that aid in both patient education as well as provide more precise examinations. These pen-shaped wands can be maneuvered around the mouth to capture still images and live video footage of teeth and oral health concerns that we can then display on a large chairside monitor. Not only does this allow us to show you exactly what we’re looking at and how we would like to treat it, but it also allows our team to see hard-to-see areas of the mouth up close and in better detail.
